Our impression abut the recycling in the campus are rather good: we have found that trash baskets and recycling bins are everywhere. However, sometimes, the people do not throw their trash to the appropriate container. Generally, the toilets have at least one trash basket (frequently more than one) for the paper towels. Particularly, some baskets are placed below the towel dispensor, so it is very easy to trow it after use. We think that the policy of environmental care is respected in the campus, that's why we like it so much!
In looked for garbage in three wastebaskets, which were situated in the first floor of lenguaje's building. The first one was in front of elevator, inside was just paper, In the second wastebasket was in the men's restroom there was recycled paper and Finally the third one was near the soda machine inside there was mix garbage like cans, bottles, paper, organic junk, etc.
Yareth: i think that is very important to separate the garbage this depend each person, recycling helps to live in a better world, a lot of garbage can reused and used. we saw that most of the garbage is separated into different containers in organic and inorganic.
Karen Chavez: Environment and Garbage: Today all the people around the worl have the biggest problem that the mankind have had in world history: the pollution.
People need to be aware that to care the enviroment mean to live too many years more and the mankind don't disappear.
That's why too many people have thought in programs in order to save the planet, for instance in the UNT campus there are many containers to separate inorganic and organic garbage and then they can recycle it.
ALso I think that the program BYOB (Bring your own bottle) is excellent because avoid people throw away many bottle.
The garbage is the problem very important in the actuality because everyday pollute the environment.
I think that in the UNT we should recycle all the garbage, but in the actuality we don't separate the garbage, because I found in the area of recycle other type of garbage where should recycle cans and bottles.
We should be aware for our environment and care more where live, because be part of our future.
In our hands is the future of our next generations.
Today was an important workshop about ecology. I'm a person who cares about environment and the preservation of life, but sometimes is really hard to make other peolpe understand the importance of chance our bad habits that are hurting the Earth, maybe they haven't realise how much damage are causing to the nature.
I feel really good when I see places as the UNT where is not common to look people throwing away the garbage, because it show us a good side from people in this place and the culture of putting the garbage where it belongs. I'm not saying that everything is perfect but at least is a beginning. In general here is a clean place and I consider really important to mention how education and culture make people more concious about our world.
In the workshop we were analizing how the people see the ecology, because it depends the education, the culture of each person, it's diferent one country that another. When we were walking at the University we could see little garbarge in different places like news paper and bubble gum on the ground, plastic bags on the garden, and a lot of cigarrets butts.
But it's very important to explain that a lot of people is carefull with the ecology, they sellec the garbage and put it in one special trash can. Nowaday we can be in programs in favor with the nature and help to preserve the world.
I was in the workshop Environment Ecology. First of all I'd like to say that The United States are cleaner than Mexico. By observing trash can of UNT I realized people usually use the correct can tu put garbage but there are some people that don't respect the cans. I could see as well that people don't put the garbage on the floor nor on the ground. I think most people are used to put garbage in the trash can but there are still some people that are not used to put it in the correct garbage. I'd like people in Mexico were use to do that but as we saw in the workshop, we must find a lot of strategies that make people put the garbage in the correct place.
